BirminghamRetail Warehouse Development
This project, located on Highgate Middleway, was assembled by Redbourn in 2000 following the acquisition of 15 separate parcels of land. Following negotiations with Birmingham City Council, Redbourn secured planning approval for the redevelopment of this derelict site to build a two unit, 35,000 sq ft retail scheme. Completed in September 2001, the two units were pre-let to MFI Properties Ltd and Carpetright Plc. The scheme involved substantial demolition and site clearance of 11 derelict warehouse buildings, together with the decontamination of the ground before the new units could be erected. The building was constructed using a steel frame with composite roof construction and substantial use of brick along key elevations to provide a modern and visually attractive building as part of wider regeneration objectives.
