Superstore and Mixed Use Development

Following an initial enquiry to officers of the London Borough of Newham in late 1998, Redbourn identified the development potential of an existing retail warehouse site located adjacent to the A13 (Canning Town fly-over). Following negotiations with the Local Authority, including participation in Newham's Re-generation objectives, Redbourn was able to secure the designation of the site within the Council's new Unitary Development Plan for a mixed use development, including the provision of a Food Superstore.

Negotiations subsequently established a mixed use development of circa 230,000 sq ft comprising a Food Superstore, Hotel and residential components.

Having secured the zoning of the site and established the principle for the development, the site was sold to J. Sainsbury Plc.
